DEEP TISSUE
Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is particularly helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders. The uses of slow, deliberate strokes that focus pressure on layers of muscles, tendons, or other tissues deep under your skin. The massage is beneficial because it helps to break up and eliminate scar tissue. Additionally, it can help increase the flow of oxygen and nutrients throughout the body, ultimately helping to reduce inflammation and pain. This is an ideal massage for anyone with tension areas, previous injuries, those who have stressful jobs or anyone who enjoys a strong and deep massage. NOTE: Whenever I detect a problem area, I am prone to add more pressure. If at any time you feel uncomfortable with the techniques used in this massage, please alert me.
RELAXATION/SWEDISH
This is the most common type of massage therapy in the United States. It is also known as Swedish massage or simply massage therapy. Massage therapists use long smooth strokes, kneading, and circular movements on superficial layers of muscle using massage lotion or oil. Swedish massage therapy can be very gentle and relaxing. If you've never had massage before, this is a good one to try first.
PRENATAL
This is also called pregnancy massage. Expectant mothers often suffer from backache, cramps and stress. Prenatal massage soothes nerves and promotes relaxation. It is particularly beneficial during the second and third trimesters, when the excess weight around abdomen puts a strain on back and other body parts. It is advisable to get a prenatal massage only from a specially trained therapist. Prenatal massage is used to reduce stress, decrease swelling, relieve aches and pains, and reduce anxiety and depression. The massage is customized to a woman's individual needs. NOTE: Most women experience restless leg or sciatic issues during pregnancy, making the process completely uncomfortable. I use special pillows to protect the mother and the baby. But, I will only provide services with permission from your family doctor.
SPORTS
Sports massage is specifically designed for people who are involved in physical activity. You do not have to be a professional athlete to have one. It is also used for people who are active and work out often. The focus is not on relaxation, but, on preventing and treating injury while enhancing your athletic performance. It helps to loosen muscles and increase flexibility. A combination of techniques is used, with strokes generally faster than Swedish massage; facilitated stretching is a common technique. This is a great massage for those who play golf, football, swimming, running, basketball, and tennis and want to prevent injuries. If you using Crossfit, Insanity, or P90X workout systems, this is the massage for you.
REIKI
Reiki massage is a holistic healing technique that seeks to promote healing and relaxation through the use of gentle, non-invasive touch. Reiki massage is based on the traditional Japanese practice of Reiki, which is a type of energy healing. During a Reiki massage, the practitioner will use their hands to apply a light, soothing touch to the client's body. This touch is intended to stimulate the body's natural healing process and restore balance and harmony to the body's energy pathways. The goal of Reiki massage is to allow the body to process any challenge or traumas + promote a sense of deep relaxation, peace, and well-being.
